Catholic Life at Our School

At our school, Christ is at the heart of everything we do. Our Catholic mission is not just written, but lived out daily by our whole community. Gospel values shape every aspect of school life, guiding how we learn, grow and treat one another. This is reflected in the warm, respectful relationships across the school and the inclusive, nurturing environment we create for all.

Prayer and liturgy play a central role in the daily experience of our pupils and staff. From quiet moments of reflection to whole-school celebrations of the Church’s liturgical year, we provide meaningful opportunities for everyone to come together in faith. These experiences help our pupils to develop a strong sense of spirituality, encouraging them to grow in confidence as they explore and express their own faith journey.

Sacramental Preparation

We are proud to support our pupils and families in preparing for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. Working in close partnership with our parish, we provide a well-structured and meaningful programme that enables children to deepen their understanding of these important milestones in their faith journey.

Preparation takes place through engaging lessons, prayer, and reflection, helping pupils to understand the significance of the Sacraments and their relationship with God. Families are encouraged to be fully involved in the programme, recognising the importance of home, school and parish working together. These special occasions are celebrated with great joy and reverence, creating lasting memories for our pupils and their families.

We also continue to nurture pupils’ spiritual development beyond these Sacraments, encouraging them to grow in faith and take an active role in the life of the Church.

Living Out Our Faith

We place great importance on Catholic Social Teaching, which is woven throughout our curriculum and wider school life. Pupils learn about key principles such as human dignity, the common good and caring for others, and are supported to put these values into action. They develop a strong sense of responsibility and a desire to make a difference in the world around them.

Our pupils actively live out their faith through service and charitable work. We are proud of the strong links we have with our local community, including our support for organisations such as The Foxton Centre and Luv Preston, as well as contributions to local food banks. Through our work with CAFOD, pupils also gain an understanding of global issues and the importance of helping those most in need. These experiences help to develop compassionate, thoughtful young people who understand the importance of justice and service. We work closely with St Wilfred's Church and support their Metanoia project: https://www.stwilfridspreston.org.uk/metanoia-project/ to help those less fortunate in our community.

A Caring and Inclusive Community

We are a fully inclusive school where every individual is valued as a unique child of God. There is a strong sense of belonging, and high-quality pastoral care ensures that all pupils feel safe, supported and able to flourish. Our caring ethos enables children to grow not only academically, but also personally and spiritually.

Our dedicated staff are deeply committed to living out our mission, “Unique and United in God’s love. We let our light shine.” Each day, we nurture every child’s faith and personal development within a caring and supportive community, where all are valued as unique individuals created in God’s image.

Guided by the principles of Catholic Social Teaching, we encourage our pupils to recognise their God-given dignity, to act with compassion and integrity, and to use their gifts in service of others. Through this, they grow in confidence, learning how to let their light shine in all that they do, both within school and beyond.

As a result, pupils leave our school as confident, compassionate individuals who are well prepared for the next stage of their education and inspired to live out our mission in their daily lives.

To further strengthen this commitment, we are proud to work in partnership with the Common Good Schools Project. This initiative supports our vision of forming the whole child - spiritually, morally and academically - so that each pupil may flourish and contribute to the common good. As the project reminds us, “education is not just about personal success, but about forming people who live for the good of all.” Through this work, we continue to empower our pupils to fulfil their potential and to let their light shine in service of their communities and the wider world.
